Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were notified by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
