Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
The win also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.
His counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.
He rescued four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
